Merlion Park, Chinatown, and the Pinnacle@Duxton skybridge together make a genuinely great single day in Singapore, heritage, food, and one of the best budget viewpoints in the city. Chinatown specifically is worth knowing about as a solo, low-budget base, it’s cheaper to stay in than most of the rest of Singapore.

Katong for Peranakan architecture and genuinely excellent Laksa, Marina Bay Sands SkyPark for the best skyline view in the city, and Little India for a completely different pace of Singapore than the malls give you, all three are worth building a day around. The Singapore River Cruise is the one thing here I’d actually skip.

A Day in Singapore: Orchard Road to Night Safari

Orchard Road and Gardens by the Bay are both genuinely worth a full day in Singapore, walking distance aside, since the MRT connects everything cleanly. Night Safari at Mandai is the one I’d temper expectations on. The tram moves fast and barely stops, so if you want a proper wildlife encounter, budget real time for the walking trails instead of relying on the tram alone.
